Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee

Juliana Cherston, Director
Class Year: 2013
Concentration: Physics
Hometown: New York City
Favorite Place: I haven’t found it yet! But the coolest place is probably hiking on an ice glacier in Chamonix, France.
Favorite Food: Nutella, no question!
Favorite MUN Moment: Meeting students from all over the world. And as a delegate, the time my chair broke his gavel.
Why did you choose these topics? Scientists just began colliding protons 800 million times a second underneath France, Google just stopped censoring data in China, and still it feels to me as though the general public has scarcely taken notice. This is your opportunity as high school students to learn more about some of the coolest current events in science and technology, and your opportunity as HMUN delegates to consider the effect of scientific collaboration and internet censorship on the social, cultural, and humanitarian domains of society.
HMUN is the best because… Oh I won’t spoil it for you, come and find out for yourself!
Topic A: International Collaboration in Science
