WELCOME TO HMUN 2015
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
I am thrilled to invite you to apply to the sixty-second session of Harvard Model United Nations, to be held from Thursday, January 29, to Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. Under the guidance of a staff of more than 200 Harvard University undergraduates, delegates will experience the challenges of negotiation by assuming the roles of UN representatives and members of other decision-making bodies. More than 3,000 delegates and 300 faculty advisors from around the United States and world will convene to confront and debate issues of international import.
Registration for our upcoming session opened on May 1 and is now closed. Further descriptions of conference logistics, along with dates, deadlines, and our Country Assignment Sheet, are available on this page.
For over six decades, HMUN has utilized principles of experiential learning to teach delegates not only how to debate and approach issues in international relations, but also essential skills, such as public speaking, diplomacy, negotiation, and compromise. During HMUN, the education experience is supplemented with presentations by Harvard professors and other guest speakers—who are often the foremost experts in their field—along with multimedia elements and challenging crises. Outside of the committee room, HMUN 2015 is proud to present events such as the College & Summer Opportunities Fair, Cultural Extravaganza, and programming for faculty advisors.
The vast array of topics and committees will further ensure a uniquely engaging and thought-provoking experience for each and every delegate, from the UN Conference on the Environment and Development to Weimar Germany Cabinet, 1919. Note that Regional Body committees are assigned with General Assembly country assignments and committees, although they are listed within the Economic and Social Council & Regional Bodies.
Whether you have attended HMUN for years or will be participating for the first time, I look forward to seeing you in Boston. Until then, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns.
