Faculty Advisor Panel Application: A recent tradition of HMUN, the Faculty Advisor Speaker Panel offers a forum for Faculty Advisors to reflect on their experiences as part of a model UN program. Faculty Advisors selected for the panel will have their Faculty Advisor Fee waived. The deadline for submission was on October 12, 2016.
Conference Terms and Conditions: Describes information on eligibility for our conference. HMUN has no prior arrangements and agreements with companies or organizations to be the sole provider of HMUN country assignments within a country or district. Online Registration Instructions 2017: Complete instructions for applying to Harvard Model United Nations 2017. Includes conference deadlines and fees.
Hotel Reservation Form: Required for reserving hotel rooms in the Sheraton Boston. This form is available through your MUNbase account if you have been accepted to HMUN 2017. Please return the form directly to the Sheraton, and please note that you must use the form to receive the discount HMUN rate.
All conference events will take place in the Sheraton Boston, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, and—new this year—the Marriott Copley Place. For the first time in recent history, HMUN is expanding! A number of HMUN 2017 committees will take place at the Marriott, providing additional opportunities for delegates from across the world to meet and engage with one another. Expanding beyond the Sheraton will also allow for greater delegate, advisor, and staff comfort during conference.
The Sheraton Boston and the Marriott Copley Place are a short 5-minute walk from one another, and are linked indoors by the Prudential Center and Copley Place shopping malls that include many dining options during conference.
Accepted delegations at HMUN are eligible for discounted hotel room rates. To receive these room rates, accepted delegations can access the Hotel Reservation Form in their MUNbase accounts. The per-night rates are as follows, not including state and local taxes (currently at 14.45%):
- Single: $215
- Double: $215
- Triple: $215
- Quad: $245
The Tentative Schedule for Harvard Model United Nations 2017 is available here. Please note that this is a tentative schedule designed to give delegates and Faculty Advisors an idea of what to expect at HMUN. All times and dates listed will be subject to change. A more detailed final schedule will be published in the Delegate Handbook, which will be distributed at the start of conference.
COUNTRY ASSIGNMENT POLICIES
Due to the large number of schools interested in HMUN, we will assign no more than two GA delegations or one GA and one EcoSoc delegation to any single school. Schools that apply for two EcoSoc delegations may be assigned one GA delegation instead. Please note that a delegation on the General Assembly may also include seats on the Security Council and Historical Security Council. Positions on the Regional Bodies committees are also assigned as part of the General Assembly country delegations, although the Regional Bodies committees are part of the Economic and Social Council organ.
Country assignments are determined by a variety of factors, including model United Nations experience, number of delegates requested, and country preferences. If you are not assigned one of the countries you requested, it may be to ensure that you receive the number of spots requested.
In some cases, we are not able to assign exactly the number of spots requested. Schools that receive fewer spots than requested but still wishing to bring more delegates are strongly encouraged to apply for our special application committees, which include most of the Specialized Agencies, the NGO Programme, and the Press Corps. Applications for the special application committees will become available on June 8 through your MUNbase account, under the “Delegation” tab.
