Terms and Conditions
The following describes the fees, deadlines, and policies of Harvard Model United Nations 2012 (herein: HMUN, HMUN 2012, or the conference). By registering for Harvard Model United Nations 2012, you agree to the following terms:
ELIGIBILITY AND ASSIGNMENTS
1. All delegates registered as delegates at Harvard Model United Nations must be currently enrolled in high school (i.e. not currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a university) OR must have recently graduated from high school, but not yet entered into a university program.
a. The staff and Secretariat of Harvard Model United Nations reserves the right to investigate the eligibility of delegates for the conference and expel those delegates determined not to be eligible for participation without refund. Delegations violating this policy or attempting to falsify the eligibility of delegates for participation in the conference will not be considered for HMUN participation for the following year, pending consultation with the Secretariat.
2. All delegations are responsible for paying for and filling all slots assigned through our country assignment process. Additionally, the following terms apply to spots assigned:
a. If a delegate cannot attend the conference, the school is still responsible for filling that spot with another delegate.
b. If the delegation will not be able to fill a spot, you must notify HMUN as soon as possible.
c. If a delegation sends fewer than the minimum allowed number of delegates, HMUN reserves the right to reassign the school a different delegation with a smaller number of seats.
3. All delegations registered by our priority deadline of May 18th, 2011 will be guaranteed a delegation at HMUN 2012 and will be given preference for country assignments. All applications received after that date will be processed and assigned on a rolling basis.
a. Schools registering after May 18th 2011 are subject to committee assignments on a rolling basis. If all countries have been assigned or no seats remain, the school will be placed on the wait-list and shall receive seats as seats become available.
4. Faculty Advisers shall be considered responsible for the safety, well-being, and conduct of their delegations. Faculty Advisers may be teachers, university students, parents, administrators or other figures, but may not be students currently enrolled in high school or those eligible to participate as delegates at HMUN.
FEES and DEADLINES
1. The following regular fees apply to all delegations of Harvard Model United Nations 2012:
a. Delegate fee: US$75.00 per delegate (if paid by November 11th, 2011)
b. School fee: US$75.00 per school (if paid by October 7th, 2011)
c. Advisor fee: US$50.00 per advisor.
2. When fees and registration are completed after the above deadlines, the following late fees apply:
a. US$35.00 for school fees paid past the deadline (October 7, 2011).
b. US$50.00 (per school) for delegate fees paid past the deadline (November 11, 2011).
c. US$50.00 for delegate names and liability waivers submitted past the deadline (November 11, 2011).
3. Online payment of all fees is preferred, however checks are also accepted. If you are mailing your payment, please mail your check written out to HARVARD MODEL UNITED NATIONS with your telephone number and Munbase ID written on the check to:

4. All delegates receiving financial aid are required to attend all SIX committee sessions (Thursday Night, Friday Afternoon, Friday Night, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, Sunday Morning). Delegates receiving financial aid must check in with their committee director to ensure attendance. Those delegates who miss more than ⅓ of a committee session without consulting a member of Secretariat member shall forfeit financial aid.
REFUNDS
1. Our refund policy is as follows:
a. The school fee is non-refundable.
b. Refunds of delegate and advisor fees requested before November 11, 2011 will be 100% refunded.
c. Refunds of delegate and advisor fees requested after the regular fee deadline of November 11, 2011 will be refunded 50%.
d. No refunds will be issued after January 1, 2011.
GENERAL
1. The Secretary General, Director General, Under-Secretary-General Administration and Comptroller are the only staff members who are allowed to grant exceptions or extensions to conference policies and deadlines.
a. HMUN, or the Harvard International Relations Council, are not liable for erroneous statements made by other members of HMUN staff regarding conference policies listed, and not listed herein.
2. Violation of the policies listed in these terms and conditions may result in the revocation of assigned seats with no refund and serious violation of these policies or those listed in the conference handbook regarding conduct may result in expulsion from the conference with no refund and potential prevention of registration for all future HMUN conferences.
