Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General

Advanced Committee

Due to the nature of the topic being unreleased, position papers will not be necessary for delegates in either of our Ad Hoc Committees.

Welcome to the Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General! As for the topic? It’s a mystery…

This committee is typically better suited for delegates with prior Model UN experience due to its fast-paced, unusual nature, but all are welcome. Delegates will need to be adaptable, creative, and knowledgeable to ensure their success in this committee. Keep in mind: anything can happen in the Ad Hoc! Good luck, delegates!

COMMITTEE HINT:

Dear Delegates,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Ad-Hoc Committee at Harvard Model United Nations 2025.

My name is Annabelle Krause, and I am excited to serve as your director for this year’s conference.  I am a Senior at Harvard College concentrating in History and Literature joint with Classical Civilizations.  I am from Bronxville, New York, a small town about half an hour outside of New York City.  My love for Model UN started here with my high school MUN team, where I was exposed to the complicated world of General Assembly committees.  At every conference I attended in my four years of high school MUN (bar one), I was a SOCHUM delegate, so my background is in the politics of a GA committee.  As a result, I staffed UNICEF at HMUN 2022.  However, after competing in our All Harvard conference this winter to join the competitive team, I found a love for crisis committees which has inspired my choices on the collegiate circuit and my choice to direct the Ad-Hoc for HMUN 2024.

At Harvard, as I have mentioned, I am a past Head Delegate for our traveling MUN team (ICMUN!) and the Under Secretary General for the Specialized Agencies at our college conference.  Beyond MUN, I chair the Campaigns and Advocacy Program and work as a tour guide for the Harvard Admissions Office.  When I’m not writing essays in the library, I can be found reading dorky young adult novels, watching Game of Thrones, or hanging out with my friends.

I am so excited to challenge all of you with this Ad-Hoc committee and have the opportunity to see your creativity at work.

I am looking forward to seeing you all rise to the unique challenge of HMUN’s second Ad-Hoc, and I am confident in each and every one of your abilities to create chaos.

Best,

Annabelle Krause

Hello Delegates!

I’m super excited to be welcoming you all to Harvard Model United Nations, and I can’t wait to see you all take on the Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary General.

My name is Cormac Savage, a senior at Harvard College studying a joint concentration in Romance Languages and Literatures and Government. I’m originally from Northern Ireland - just outside Belfast. I hadn’t done anything MUN related until my sophomore year of college and am now on Harvard’s competitive MUN team.

I’m very excited to see you all debate and take on the exciting challenges waiting for you in the Ad Hoc. Remember to be creative - outside the box thinking will be well respected in this backroom!

Looking forward to meeting all of you! See you soon,

Cormac Savage
