Manor Murder: The Death of Mr.Boddy

Topic Summary

The year is 1954, and what was meant to be an elegant evening at the secluded Boddy Manor has taken a deadly turn. Wealthy businessman Mr. Boddy has invited a group of…peculiar guests for a dinner party that is simply to die for. The circumstances around each invite are shrouded in mystery, each guest is eccentric and unique, and each has their fair share of secrets that they’d kill to keep hidden. Not long into the night, however, the host is found dead.

The mansion lies in the distant countryside. With a raging storm outside and no possibility of outside assistance, the responsibility falls upon those inside to uncover the truth. Every guest had a motive. Every guest had an opportunity. Every guest had a weapon. And somewhere within the halls of the mansion lies the evidence needed to expose the killer. Was it a crime of passion, revenge, greed, or something far more sinister? Look around you, because in your midst lies a murderer hiding in plain sight, working hard to conceal their tracks and they’ll do anything to keep their secrets hidden.

Will you uncover the identity of Mr. Boddy’s murderer and escape the manor, or will you become the mansion’s next victim? Will you be the hand of justice in this tragic tale or are you the person with the most to hide and the most to lose? The fate of everyone trapped within Boddy Manor rests in your hands. Choose your allies carefully, trust no one completely, and remember: in this house, everyone is a suspect.

Greetings delegates!

My name is Justin Ricketts and I am so excited to serve as your director for the Murder of Mr. Body at this year’s HMUN! I am a senior at Harvard, concentrating in Neuroscience (with a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy). I come from Lake Worth, Florida (about an hour north of Miami). Surprisingly, I don’t love the beach, but unsurprisingly, I’m still not the biggest fan of the Boston winters...

My first experience with Model UN came as I randomly chose to join Harvard’s Model UN team my freshman spring, and I haven’t looked back since. Beyond Model UN, I love books and music more than anything. Reading has been hard recently, but I am still on my phone at 12:00 AM every Friday morning to listen to every song that has been released. Truthfully, I’m a sarcastic, chronically-online, former pre-med, who loves word games (my Wordle streak is still going strong).

When it comes to committee, I hope this will be a unique, thrilling, and memorable experience for all of us. I value, in myself and others, creativity above most, so I’m excited to see which of many paths we will fall on, as I hope you all are!

See you soon,

Justin Ricketts

Dearest Delegates,

Hello! My name is Signe Smith, and I am beyond excited to be acting as your crisis director for The Murder of Mr. Bobby at HMUN 2027!!

I was raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, and am completing a double concentration in Social Studies and Modern Middle Eastern Studies, and a master’s degree in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. My journey in Model UN began in middle school, sparking a profound passion for global issues and diplomacy. From the research and wealth of topics I have been exposed to, to the friendships and connections I have made, I have had nothing but amazing experiences in this community, both as a competitor and staffer on the college circuit.

Beyond Model UN, I am a bit of a sci-fi nerd and love everything from Star Wars, Marvel, and DC to Avatar: The Last Airbender! You can often find me knitting, killing my eardrums while blasting Laufey on my Sony XM4s, playing 2048, or trying to finish Pride and Prejudice for the 20th time (it will never happen, I fear). However, most of all, I have a deep symbiotic relationship with caffeine, and throughout this conference, be prepared to see me drink my fair share of coffee and tea!

As we embark on this committee, I am eager to witness your innovation, collaboration, and passion. As someone who has found a great community within MUN, I will look preferably towards delegates who foster this sense of community through not just their research prowess, but also how they embrace the spirit of community by actively engaging with and supporting fellow delegates.

I can’t wait to step into the room with you all this upcoming winter, and if there are any questions or concerns you all have, please do not hesitate to contact me! Without further ado, let the mystery commence!

Wishing you all the best,

Signe Smith
