Futuristic Security Council
Topic Summary
Delegates will participate in the UNSC’s meeting of 2100 and address the use of space by nations, a topic even more relevant in that future day due a global boom in space technology and development. Militarization, the rights of nations to claim regions of space as sovereign territory, and methods of redress for violations of other nation’s infrastructure will be primary concerns. Blending current policy and technology with an imagined image of the future, the FSC will respond to a variety of evolving challenges and enforce rulings for fair behavior in the next frontier.
Jimmy Merino is a junior studying Economics and Government and is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. At Harvard, Jimmy is an active member of the Model United Nations community, serving as Secretary-General for HMUN Canada 2027 and Director-General for HMUN China 2027. Beyond MUN, Jimmy is involved with the Institute of Politics, consulting for nonprofits and public organizations.
Outside of academics, you'll probably find Jimmy at the beach playing beach volleyball, hanging out with friends, or rating coffee shops around Boston. Jimmy is super excited to meet his delegates soon and welcome them to HMUN Online 2026!
