Letter from the Secretary General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
The sixty-seventh session of Harvard Model United Nations will be held from Thursday, January 30, to Sunday, February 2, 2020. Come January, more than 3,500 high school delegates and their faculty advisors will gather to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Together with our staff of over 230 Harvard University undergraduates, delegates will be asked to step into the role of international decision makers, negotiate on major international crises, and craft innovative policy solutions. Every year, Harvard MUN attracts some of the most promising young leaders from around the world, and HMUN 2020 will be no exception.
At our sixty-sixth session, delegates hailed from over 57 countries—making HMUN the largest and one of the most international high school model UN conferences in the world. The international nature of our conference matters—delegates certainly learn a lot from reading our meticulously researched background guides, and from discussion in committee, but so much of the educational value of this conference comes from meeting hundreds of other young leaders from radically different backgrounds, from all over the world.
Applications for HMUN 2020 are now open through our new Munbase system! Application information, along with other important dates and deadlines, can be found on the Registration tab of our website. The deadline for Priority I and Priority II Registration has now passed. Delegations may now apply by our Regular Registration Deadline on October 4, 2019. This year we will be expanding our conference size by hundreds of delegates and look forward to being able to offer the HMUN experience to even more students. I cannot be more excited to continue the unparalleled level of substantive excellence that HMUN is renowned for at our sixty-seventh session.
In service and leadership,
Esteban R. Flores
